Buttered Turnips with Rainbow Chard

  • 2 Tbsps butter
  • 2 turnips, peeled and diced
  • 1 bunch rainbow Swiss chard
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • lemon wedges (optional)


  1. Heat butter on medium heat in skillet. Add turnips, stir, and cover to cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Wash the Swiss chard and trim stems; then chop stems up to where the leaves spread out and add to the turnips, keeping covered and cooking for another 5 minutes or until turnips are easily pierced by a fork. Meanwhile, loosely chop the chard leaves.
  3. Once turnips and stems are tender, add chopped leaves, turn off heat, and cover for 5 minutes. Serve with salt, pepper, and a lemon wedge.
